The Social Ladder of the Church
The Church was built like a ladder with the most important people at the top, making the most money, and fewer people in the group, while at the bottom were beggers, living off charity.
At the top were the Bishops in charge of all the churches in a city,
Next were the Preists of the Chuches with one Priest in each church ,
Than the Monks and Nuns living their religious lives in the Monastries and living off charity,
And finally, at the bottom were the Friars, who traveled around giving sermons about the teachings of Jesus.
